Went through the same journey with my friend's Spirit
recently. Replacing the starter's a snap, but you may
want to check the ignition switch as that turned out
to be the culprit in the Spirit. It's a cheaper part
and you won't be near anything that'll drop gunk in
your eye. Theoretically.
