 Well, it might mean the pump in the carb is shot, after sitting so long, 
it's probably dried the rubber seal out, so it dies when you stomp the gas. 
Not much to fix it, really, but it is if you don't know how. That accelerator 
pump seal is a weak spot on ANY carb, Chevy/Ford, etc , especially after they 
sit for a long time unused. So it's nothing "serious" to the car buff. :) 
Hope you can find someone to look at it for you, Mildred. Shame to let the 
ol' car sit , but at least it's not in a junkyard!
