Hi Karla!

I recently finished restoring my '72 Gremlin X. It is "Surfside Turquoise" 
with a black bucket seat interior and a 258/3-speed. When I went to insure 
it, I came up with the same problem. I work at a car dealership here in 
Illinois and so I took it to a used car dealer that I know that does a lot 
of classic cars. He consulted a book that showed a class 1 car at $5,000 to 
$5,500. (My car is nice, but I am not completely sure that it would qualify 
as a class 1.) Anyway, he wrote an appraisal on his letterhead and copied 
the pages from the book that he had, and I gave it to my insurance company.

As far as a retail price is concerned, my used car manager says that if he 
had my car on our used lot, he'd price it at $7,500.00. I can't imagine that 
there would be much difference in value between a "72 and a "74.
