It is a variation of the "leave it on the ice
till it melts and sinks"contest - great way to raise funds for charity using
something that is going to be scrapped anyway. Used engines these days are
only worth their scrap weight for the most part as now the engines outlast the
cars, at up in this part of the country anyway. If someone has a good
market for used engines, contact me off list and I will put you onto a few
sources where you can buy them cheap and make yourselves some good money if you
want to truck them to that market. My chum owns a big wrecking yard,
and it is full of used motors most of the time - they end up going for weight
about 3 times a year when they scrap out. (As an example, they
had a good high performance Pontiac 6 cylinder out of an early firebird,
complete and running, and I could not get $100. for it on ebay a couple of years
ago).
