Re: [BaadAssGremlins] engine help needed

My thoughts were the lower side of the intake was letting it suck oil into cylinders and fouled plugs but as Davis said cam lobes could have wiped off if you didnt run it for 15-20 minutes above 2000-2500 rpms [do not let one idle!] I still dont trust intake and all engine builders dont do enough AMCs to know all the little quirks.

in Addition to what Rick said......What intake is on it? What was the cam break in procedure that you did? Does the intake have the metal pan under it? Oil can and will get sucked into the PCV.

Intake manifold gasket?  Did he use the metal pan gasket ? Did he mill the heads? Deck the block? You may need to mill intake. I use the thicker Mr Gasket intake gaskets and silicone on the ends of manifold .

I'm in need of some engine info.I recently professionally had my 401 rebuilt top to
bottom. We fired it up ran good with 80 oil pressure. Started it again at this point it
only has headers on it. We noticed on the left bank header oil is seriously coming out the
end.The next day i had the dull exhaust completed. fired it up ex-stream smoke pouring out
both sides it doesn't appear to be blue oily smoke. The engine sounds sick it wont rev up
to it's full potential sounds like possible a dead cyl. Not at first but now the car wont
go under it's own power put it in gear it dies. The engine at most has 30 minutes idle an
revving time. I'm afraid this guy may have possibly way over revved it.Oil pressure now is
down to 40 pounds. Dose anyone have any ideas on whats going on? Thanks Ed for the use of
your great site. Harold nash126@xxxxxxxxxxx 262-903-3993 08/15/2011 02:46:42 AM
