WELCOME! This is a great group of folkes.

Now, about your problem.... It could be a pluged radiator...half the radiator could be pluged and you would never know. A fan shroud will help but its not your real issue. I have had MANY amc's witout a shroud and no over heating problems. you never said what engine you have. You may also have to pull the core plugs(welch plugs) and run a brush thru the cooling system in the engine. Could have solidified rust in the passages.

Take your radiator to a shop and have it tested.

Hi y'all, MY name is Paul and I'mnew to the group. I dont have a Gremmie yet, but I do own a 1971 Hornet Sportabout. Purchased from texas, trailered to St Louis and after 6weeks, is almost ready to hit the highways. It had sat for some 25+ years and I figure joining the group will allow me to give and recieve new info!!

Currently I'm looking for a few parts, fan shroud being one of them. I cant seem to get the car to stop overheating. I've completely flushed the cooling system, installed a new thermostat, water pump and 13 psi radiator cap... the only thing missing is the fan shroud (car didnt come with one) will this cause the car to overheat???
