Bradley is right also. That is another possibility. I am sure there is a garage in your area that has the NOX sensor that can sense exhaust in your coolant and also you can use a lazer infared temp gun to figure out if one cyl is hotter that the rest.

Hey Paul, You have 2 things of my interest...1) Hornet Sportabouts and 2) I grew up in the St. Louis area.
I take it that you have a straight 6 in the Hornet. You may want to check the head gasket. My '74 Sportabout had an overheating problem when I got it also. A techy mechanic friend used a temp reading gun on it and told me which cylinder it was. He had all kinds of neat toys.
I grew up in East Alton Illinois.

Hi y'all, MY name is Paul and I'mnew to the group. I dont have a Gremmie yet, but I do own a 1971 Hornet Sportabout. Purchased from texas, trailered to St Louis and after 6weeks, is almost ready to hit the highways. It had sat for some 25+ years and I figure joining the group will allow me to give and recieve new info!!

Currently I'm looking for a few parts, fan shroud being one of them. I cant seem to get the car to stop overheating. I've completely flushed the cooling system, installed a new thermostat, water pump and 13 psi radiator cap... the only thing missing is the fan shroud (car didnt come with one) will this cause the car to overheat???

Thank you,

Paul J. Theurer
