On below comment......there are too many people intimidiated by other's cars. This is not new and have seen hundres of people NOT bring their car out to a meet because 'it is not restored' or 'it is not perfect' the list is endless. When we did the nationals here in Houston in 2001 the excuses I was hearing were beyond belief. 'My car has bondo' and 'the interior is not done' (yet they had driven 600 miles to the meet) or 'mine is not stock' (less than 3% of all remaining AMCs are, duh) or 'I don't have the $20 entry fee' (of which I would offer to pay their fee so their car would be on a once in a lifetime showfield) but the list goes on....this was at one meet. Bottom line is there is, and should be, room....for everyone on the 'showfield' and speaking for myself, I love projects just as much as rotisserie America Cup winners. They all start somewhere. The Planet Houston award has always been given to cars that are 'under construction' as it is inspirational to others that they see your car in this shape, and knowing that as time goes on, it will undoubted get better. That is part of the fun of going to these meets. You get ideas for what your vision is for your car. Those trendsetters look great on a Gremlin, that Hornet hatchback looks awesome with a SC/360 scoop, that Ambassador looks nice with 16 inch Dubs, how did they get a blower on that AMX, and too bad AMC never offered a Javelin convertible like that. As for BAG members, years ago when the amxfiles.com was the big hoodoo, someone brought up the idea to make small badges and give them away to amxfiles members. The badges were cheap pin on, plastic cover with amxfiles colors of big bad green/orange/blue on top of a 140mph speedometer. This was the biggest AMC event in history in 1998 in Kenosha and over 10,000 people attended and if I recall, they ran out of badges, over 1000 of them. It was neat to see so many different faces put on a email, or phone call, a voice, but the camradirie was second to none and this was not a paid group, nothing, just good group of aMCers wanting to put a face to a name. Too bad it has never been done since, but maybe big future AMC event have some BAG ID's for folks to ID each other, or maybe bum money from or hunt down perhaps :~P Eddie Stakes 713.464.8825 eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.planethoustonamx.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "gremlin_corvette_guy" <gremlin_corvette_guy@xxxxxxxxx> To: <BaadAssGremlins@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 17, 2010 4:01 PM Subject: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: 2010 AMO Show and Dream Cruise > > > --- In BaadAssGremlins@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, themixtoo@... wrote: > > Hey Gary from Cleveland, I'm Gary who grew up in Elyria but has lived in Michigan since > 1969.
