I don't know how many pumps, or stations actually use that E85 stuff, but when I go put gas, especially at lower end places like Cash Gas or Citgo, (not all Citgos either, they are indepentially owned) but has the E85 decal. Hell, it could be Dome Foam from old Astrodome putting in there.
On the high octane stuff, the reason I mentioned V-Power at Shell and Chevron's Techron is because the jets in the Eagle's carbs used to get plugged up with anything BUT those two types of gas. Yellow spuuge form on them and either die at stop signs or low idle, but getting them idle was tough, even with new carb. I took two of my Eagles to different mechanics on the carb problems, and both suggested try those types of higher end gas.
Granted, to me it is probably same big tank underground, and three different pumps and they screw you on premium, but getting crawfish boil. But the Eagles *really* perked up with the higher end gas mentioned above. And the carbs didn't need spraying once a month.
I don't know about the E85 eating up gas lines, but the poison crap MTBE used to eat gas lines up and boy, once a year or less one would have to replace all gas lines, from near tank, to near pump, above engine, it would just crack them out really bad. My 82 Eagle had engine fire I mentioned here, several years ago, the plastic valve cover leaked, and the gas lines went and it was fireball.
I need to clairy something I said about E85 though, while there ARE a number of places like Kroger that sell E85 in Houston....
the stuff I use is a mix of E85 and whatever else they put in it to make it 1/2 combustible. So not true E85 I am running in my AMCs mentioned, but a mix. Hope this helps clairfies that!
No, Terry, don't know how well it sells or how many people use it, as I am not sure anyone tracks that, much less the small mom and pop places I frequent with cheaper "cut" gas, currently about $2.51 a gallon here, hey, we make the stuff like moonshine in Houston, 28% of US capacity.

Until Eddie said he uses it and found no problems I would say I wouldn't use it. I did a little research when it first showed up around here to use in my daily driver and I didn't like what I found. First the 105 octane is not suppose to be a true figure. They use a different formula to figure it. If you use the same formula they use for gas it is around 94 octane. Second they said you would have to change out every piece of rubber hose you have for gas lines because the alcohol will eat the rubber up. Third they said people with electric fuel pumps especially ones in the gas tanks have to be very care that there is no arching because the fumes from the alcohol where blow a lot easier than gas, Fourth the flex fuel cars get about 5 miles per gallon less using the E85 and performance suffers. Fifth like you said it is a dollar cheaper per gallon and there are quite a few new cars that can use it and I never see anyone at the E85 pump and see the ones
with flex fuel on them at the gas pumps. That is just what I found. Like I said though if Eddie is using it in his AMC's and he isn't having any problems then I would say go for it. One question for Eddie though are a lot of people using it in Texas? Just through my observations the Kerosene pumps see more action than the E85 pumps around here.

Is anyone running E85 in their Gremlin or any other older car? I picked up a 650 Holley at a swap meet Sunday that is set-up to run alcohol. Since I have not installed any of the fuel system in my Gremlin yet, I was thinking about converting it to E85. It's about a $1.00 a gal cheaper, rated at 105 octane, and it runs cleaner than gas.
Has anyone done this yet?
