[BaadAssGremlins] Spare Tire Inflation cannister

Has anyone ever figured out a way to refill or found someone who knows exactly how to refill the old Space Saver Spare tire Inflation cannisters? It used to be some kind of compressed gas but every one I now own is dead empty. Any help or suggestions, being mindful that I don't want to create my own IED!!
