This morning I work up hearing Pontiac is been given the axe. Sure is getting crowded on the old 'orphan car show' field now with Olds, Plymouth and now Ponchos joining us AMCers, chances are Saturn, Saab, and others will bite it and Chrysler future not good. I also went to eat at Sam's Deli Diner at corner of Kirkwood and I-10 this morning and Guzman Pontiac just closeed there on I-10, been in Houston since I believe 1920s sadly. 1/2 mile down the Hummer dealership, and Audi dealership near Dairy Ashford might be next, no word on across street (I-10) if Nissan, Infinity, Toyota and the others might bite it. Maybe those folks who had DiSalvo's knew somethign we didn't and decided to unload. Funny looking at the old Di'Salvo's ad how the salesman at the aMC dealership smiling about selling 1500 cars a calender year, I bet there are a slew of dealerships, big and small that would love to sell 1/2 of that in 2009. We also just saw shutdowns here of three of the biggest dealerships in the US...go google them: Lawrence Marshall in Hempstead, TX (just NW of me) Landmark Chevrolet on I-45 Bill Heard also went belly up, some of these places were the highest volume dealerships in US, quite a sign of times.
