I also forgot to mention the SEM Rust Shield is about 1/2 the cost of POR-15

I agree, I would use POR-15 on the old lady if she would let me. You can also leave it black if need be. I used this on my 68 convertible 'Machine' back in 1987 when I was restoring it on several key areas like trunk. I simply sanded, washed, let it dry, painted it on, let dry, then painted over it with spray can Rally Green Metallic (68 AMC color) and rust has never come back and a number of judges sheets mentioned trunk detail. Some, like the SC/360 I am fixing to put carpet in (can you believe NOT ONE place makes carpet for a "4 speed" Hornet?? Yup, no Kennedy, APD, Galvin, ACC/Carpets, no major AMC vendor and none of their suppliers, have to use AT/floor one and alter it!) but have a bucket of POR-15 to lay down come spring on the floor of the Hornet SC/360 then pads/carpet. Really good stuff, and there are a number of other 'rust preventives' out there however, I have used this stuff thru decades and it works great.

Doc,

I've had good luck with the product POR-15 and it requires only minimal surface prep. I used it on the front wheel wells, undercarriage, floor pans, upper & lower control arm, rear end and all the steering linkage.

I will never live long enough to restore the Matador like I did my orange Hornet and my yellow Hornet is still in serious need of some paint. The Matador is a preservation at this time. I have an immediate problem on the Matador that needs to be fixed. The windshield leaks and it has a vinyl top which is toast and with the bad winds this winter is pealing off. I was thinking of having my glass man seal the windshield and rear window after removing the vinyl top and fix existing rust with what ever and a rust encapsulating paint. I was thinking of a roll on bed liner to simulate the vinyl roof for now? Any comments? Also recommend a good rust encapsulating paint other than Eastwoods which is crap as I have it on my yellow Hornet. This is to  nice a car & body style (2 door HDTP) for someone to cut up for the 360/727 and parts.
