Re: [BaadAssGremlins] how rare is rare?

I agree Tom I would love to know the exact number of Gremlins on the road and what kind are out there. I know I have had a bunch of people come up to me and tell me they had a Gremlin that they were restoring. In the last 11 years I have been going to car shows I haven't seen any of them. I agree with about the 57 Chevy's and the Mustang, You ever noticed with the 57 Chevy that 95% of them are 2 door hardtops with 350 engines in them. Same with 65 Mustangs. When I was growing up I would have sworn that one hell of a lot of them came with 6 bangers. At the shows almost all of them sport 289's. You really don't know what you are looking at when you look at those cars. Are you looking at a 1965 Mustang or a 2008 car that looks like a 1965. There is a shop in town that will sale you everything for a Mustang from a brand new gas cap to let you drive the brand new reproduction car out the door of his garage.

Hi Davis,
Your right about of all years a 76 V8 (826 made) and 70 Fixed hatch (872) being the rarest.models ahead of the 1978 only GT and 4 bangers
I figure there might possibly be more of the 76 V8s still around than the 78 4cyl ... more fun, more durable and more likely in recent years to be resurrected from the barn/pasture/back lot.  The four bangers were really pretty crappy -usually ordered for a low-end car under-powered, disposable, without much "personality". People wanting a 4 cyl economy car had plenty of newer and more economical choices by 78.  They were melted down as scrap quicker than most I assume.
It would be interesting if there is a way to track down DMV records to see how many of our cars are still "on the road" -   Thanks to retro-fitting there just may be more V8 Gremlins than were actually made, I am convinced folks are making brand new 57 BelAirs and 65 Mustangs out of mail order reproduction parts! It seems there are more now than then,  lol
