After 4+ years, I'm starting to rebuild my '72 Gremlin. It's just a shell at the moment (pic in the photo album). I've drilled the holes for the rear spoiler and the luggage rack. I measured 60 times and drilled only once. Fortunately, I drilled in the right spots! I will be taking some liberties on the restoration of my Gremlin and have been contemplating having a real electric after market sunroof professionally installed. 30 years ago, I installed a pop-top in my '73 Gremlin and really enjoyed having it. Anyone ever have one of these installed? Bill Dallas, TX '72 Gremlin (gutted and still ready for paint) '72 Olds Custom Cruiser Wagon '71 Mark III '70 Cadillac Convertible \\ Congratulations Bill ! I've seen them, the New Electrics are Upscale & 'a nice touch'..feel like a Million Bucks. AMC would be offering these as Optional Equipment on 2008 Gremlins. Some Mfg. sales will not sell to private parties - they have Installer contracts etc. - so keep this in mind when shopping. Get a parts diagram from the Mfg. - & - Installation Instructions - ask the secretary, scanned is fine. Check the drainage design - usually a nipple/hose deal you thread down a pillar to a hole in the floor, or none at all - evaporative. This is the area to go Big Bore - if the stock nipple/hose looks like a Clogger - put in something bigger that won't embrittle or break - like a stainless steel tube for drainage. Di_electric Grease all the rubber, rub it in & let sit in the sun. Rubber won't decay this way > [secret]. Take a look at the transport system - is it cable or gear/track? Get an extra 2 of the replaceable parts, these aren't going to be around forever. Jay |
