Well, my brother got the manifold bolts and carb bolts torqued up and it's
running good -- or so he tell me. Thanks again to everyone for their help!

Afew years ago my 258 was running rough. A mechanic at the Jeep dealer I
worked at mentioned the carb base gasket. I popped the hood.....
sure enough. I could wobble the air box back and forth a quarter of an
inch... Yup I snugged up the nuts and it ran fine.
I wish my current problems were that easy to
fix.
