On the bolts, if it is the exhaust manifold bolts, I usually
tighten them when engine is warm, easier to turn. Get a spray bottle and spary
around to see where vacuum leak is. Something else worth mentioning.....on a
six, I have had a number of AMC-six, mostly 74-up with I believe Carter carb,
the screws that hold it together come loose from vibration. There should be
several screws on it, some easy to get to from top, other not easy to get to,
but see if loose if loose, might be the problem, can't tell you how many times I
have had to tighten the carb upper to lower this way!
