project/scenes from the driveway
When The Nicaraguan's get there to paint I will have my Nigerian
transport team arrive to pick up my Bricklin
looks like a great project car Eddie. O I couldn't help myself. i
took another ride in the gremlin today
Gotta go give my son a shower now. Mee too I am stinky!
Here are some 'scenes from the driveway' on the 73 AMX. I hung the
fenders, but will wait until I can get my Nicaraguan paint guys over,
providing Homeland Security didn't send them back to Managua. I was going to
install the wiring and dash today, but got a fluury of mail, and also had to
go shopping for provisions for the kiddies. They are getting good at passing
poppa tools while I'm under a car too.
found the build sheet in back seat but not readable, but still took
photo of it while there.

new project (was david340)
Nice Eddie. After I am finally finished with my gremlin I will be
looking for a project I can build to take the family arround in.
I won't say whipping it out anymore, however might use the term
cleanup on aisle ten though. Speaking of cleaning up, this is my new
project that just came in, and I am unsure what I might do with it. 73
AMX, no engine or trans. Originally was a heavily optioned 360/AT,
function cowl hood with flapper, ps, pdb, ac, tilt, heated rear glass,
even Machine rims shown. The body is one of the best I have had come
thur in abuot 10 years, about 99% rustfree. Small bodywork done ready to
paint back original Fresh Plum Poly, a unusual color for 73 AMX. I have
about 90% of the items to put it back together and am going to weight
whether I will, or move it, as I have a number of people wiating for a
rustfree body.
I am still going thru the SC/360 and will be installing carpet in
that shortly, then bolt down seats. However this is a unique opportunity
to tackle a unusual AMX in a color I have always been fond of. Coming up
with engine/trans no problem, I'm just impressed with the body. So no
decision one way or another whether to put it back together or sell at
this time!

Anybody know a 340 David on ebay???????
Eddie.
Please refrain from "whipping it out" in my presance.
Hi Davis, yes, some years had more pieces than others. The NOS
"kit" I mention in the previous email to Charlie....I decided to
make like Blazing Saddles and "whip it out" and guess what......it
is ten pieces....and one large decal, so 11 pieces, but all pieces
are for side body: fenders, doors, 1/4 panels, and small rear hatch
area....no upper 1/4 fins or grille however...

Eddie,
If I may add... The whole kit should be 11 pcs. you are
forgetting the rear quarter fake vents and the one that goes on
the grille.
Charlie brings up a godd point, I will bring
up another. AMC commonly sold their stripes individually. Yes,
you coulc get a "kit" whihc might include (in Gremlins' case)
six pieces. But I had bought out many dealerships in late 80s
and most boxes had only one piece. One part number, one piece.
Why? For repairs, collision shops, dealerships, it was bigger
market up for AMC to sell that way, and few people wanted.....or
would need... a complete kit. You still see dozens of these at
bigger AMC meets for sale, even ebay. Best thing about them is
you can make a template with it and make your own.
NOS stripes and decals. Warning, while not
really of dubious quality back then (AMC used mostly 3M....same
shit Phoenix Graphix and others use in 2007) the problem with
NOS stripes is that they usually last 3-5 years on your car once
installed. They have been tossed around, dragged to swap meets,
stored in warehouse, exposed to cold, heat, humidity, varmints,
whatever. So suddenly you apply one to your $3k paint....and
discover a few years (or months in Texas case) that they are
peeling.....or cracking....or both.
Plan on showing your car? If it is out in the
sun....old El Sol will take them out. Quick. And the hotter the
areas of the US....the quicker. So the more you show your car,
especially in warmer climes....the quick it will deterioiate.
This can also be applied with carpet sets, and
some interior parts AMC used, especially by Wheel Horse...whom
they would later buy to manufacter their own interior
pieces.
So while it may be NOS...as I commonly tell
people daily....not all that glitters AMC NOS is gold!
is the seller's main link, nice looking
Gremlin car for sale item #200109661251
The stripe kit I think ya'll taking about is
item #200110242555
**Email them quickly if interested to ask them
how many pieces in the 'kit', should be six, 2 for fenders, 2
for doors, 2 for 1/4 if a 'kit'.

Hey. Anyone know a ebay seller named
"340David"?? Has a Gremlin stripe kit i was interested
in. I asked a couple of questions...reeived
standard replies. When i asked if it was a complete car
kit(both sides)...or JUST only one side...like alot of
AMC kits i've seen..he got real smart ass with his
amswer to me!! Thanks,Joe
Joe,
I'm curious -- if this is NOS stuff, do you want to
display them as a collectible, or are you thinking about
putting them on your car? Those decals were of
dubious quality new -- sun and car polish caused them to crack
and fade in short order. Sitting for 30 plus years has
probably rendered them useless. You can get great
reproductions made from good quality 3 m stock from Phoenix.
Plus, you don;t have to deal with smart ass, feebly
losers.
