Finally got the engine pulled and stripped from my 77 Hornet AMX that
I bought from Ed Walker. It has a 360 from an 82 wagoneer. I am
planning for a street/strip vehicle. Would appreciate any suggestions
r.e. the rebuild. I am sure the local speed shops will be all too
happy to take lots of my money for whatever I want to do on the
rebuild.
As such, I would appreciate guidance from those of you that have
already been down this road with the 360.
I am thinking port and polish on the stock heads, roller rockers and
matched cam and lifter set. A buddy suggested boring the 360 out to a
390 and replacing the pistons. Are the cylinder walls thick enough to
allow this?

Also, need to replace the motor mounts. Any ideas for vendors?
I'd just do a .30 over bore anything more than that and you'll run into cooling prob's Some 10 to one pistons would be a good idea  that way you can run pump gas still. Edelbrock and Indy make alum. heads for an AMC but if you can't afford them just try and find some 70-73 AMC 360,390 and 401 heads which initially are the same save for the 70 and early 71's being a high comp head '51 cc's and i think in 74 AMC's 360/401 heads were garbage. The Comp cams Hyd. 292/518 sounds great and its perfect for the 360. Don't go anything bigger than a 750 cfm carb as anything larger and you'll be bogging it.Also the Edelbrock Torker intake is good for street/strip as it wakes up at around 2500-3k rpm also the new Edelbrock 'Air Gap' i hear is good. Hope I helped in some way
