RE: [BaadAssGremlins] New intake and carb

Dave,
No the baffle does not effect the function of the PCV. The alturnative intake gasket would be the Mr Gasket part # 800. It is a paper gasket. If you already have the metal pan gasket you can use that there is nothing wrong with it. It actually helps keep hot oil off the bottom of the intake.
They are a pain for some because you have to get it to stay in it's position as you lower the intake onto it. I think it's just as easy. The valley pan has lips on the bolt holes to help keep it inplace as you install the intake. Als you can use the rubber ends. i used them with my torker intake for years.
I  use the paper gasket now because I have to cut them to the size of my ported heads
The paper gasket.... you will have to glue it to the head so it stays put while you are lowing the intake onto it. I use the yellow gooy weather strip adhesive.
hope that helps clear things up

Thanks to everyone for their responses.  I bought the intake used a couple of years ago.  I pulled it out last week and it has the tin baffle attached.  Jim said the baffle will cover the PVC hole in the intake...does that make it non-functional?

And Bob advised against using the tin/metal intake gasket, but I haven't heard any other suggestions.  What's the problem with the tin/metal?

Thanks again.  Surgery on the Gremlin is scheduled for next Friday.  I'm also looking into getting my used replacement fenders painted so the car will be in good shape for the AMO nationals that are in my neighborhood this summer.

Dave...

If you have not....you will need to transfer the under side tin baffle
from the old intake to the new Performer
intake....this will cover the PCV hole in the intake....
