Luke I find that the non-chain stores have more outlets for parts over the chain stores. I see people on the AMX files and other groups that have trouble getting the same parts I usually buy right over the counter. Almost all of them only have chain stores in their area. I was told that chain stores only get parts from regional warehouses and not from all over the country. My parts store has 3 huge independent warehouses besides their own and their second store within an hour of each other getting deliveries back and forth twice a day. And they are not above calling the factory for a part. Also a lot of times there are parts in these warehouses for AMC's that have sat on the shelf for years and making a phone call finds them. Some one suggested a while back that I should take orders and buy the parts people can't get in other parts of the country and add on a shipping and handling charge. I have done this a few times over the years but only for close friends. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Something is new at Yahoo! Groups. I was just wondering what your experience was. Thanks
for the input. There is a non chain parts store up the
hill from where I work that I have had good experience
with. I like supporting the little guy. In fact I got
a differential cover gasket at that store that we
didnt have where I work. It's sad how quickly customer
want things nowadays. They don't seem to have time for
us to look for parts in a book.
