Re: [BaadAssGremlins] best oil filter for a 390? (Oil Filter study)

I used to use Fram "oil" filters almost exclusively in the 80s and early
90s. I believe from memory it was PH-11 for AMC V8s. The earliest I remember
the stories about Fram filters shredding was in the real early 90s, possibly
90, or 91. Sometimes you have competitor throw rumors into market to knock
out your rival. You see this all the time, big and small companies. But for
the like of me, there seemed to be some truth about the filters coming apart
and plugging oil pumps and destroying engines. You would hear it at car club
meetings, car meets, internet, wherever.

Not to say there was/was not truth behind it, you see tons of that stuff out
there like Microsoft will give you free money (or Pepsi, GE, name big
company) if you forward a email; or 'dying kid in Britian wants you to send
him business cards' or 'gang members will kill you if you flash headlights'
or 'AIDS needles being put in coin return slots' or 'they are tracking all
emails' or 'you will get a check if you forward a email' ad nauseum like the
'don't buy gas from Exxon/Mobil' thing, all crap urban legends that seem to
take life of own on internet and blogs and so forth.

Again, I never did research the Fram thing, just figured it be best to move
on to another filter if there was any 'shred' (no pun intended) to the Fram
oil filter rumors I was hearing at meets and shows. Like Doc below I have
also used WIX, Purolator and also Micro Guard GL-20033, which I believe is a
Wal Mart brand, for years, still have a case of those in garage!
