I too am sorry to see the guy take a hosing on his magazine project. And what is amazing as with all the people on the AMX flies where I heard about it and at the national event he had his booth at that he could not make his target of 200 subscribers. I never thought it would be a big money maker but I didn't expect it to fold and to my amazement after only one issue. All the bow hards cry about no magazine coverage and no participation but wouldn't cough up 2 bucks for a magazine or bring their car out to a show or cruise night. As soon as I get my grill back in I plan on taking some nice photo's and sending them to each magazine that has a readers rides section. Lets see how many if any print a picture. Like I said I give up on getting other AMC'ers to participate in things. It's their loss not mine. Even with my poor health I participate. At the Ardsley show the weather was threatening, my back was giving me fits and due to the weather I couldn't breath to well with my emphazima but I still went, had a good time and was rewarded with a trophy for all my hard work on the car. Eddie I commend you for still trying after all these years to get more participation but I am now convinced you are beating a dead horse. Sorry. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo! The biggest problem was out of all the damned people at the meet, he had a
booth setup and people would walk by and pick up a copy and try to walk off,
not realizing it was $2! I realize that will deprive someone of a Big Gulp
but still!
It is a reason I am adamant on trying to get people involved. Whether
posting a thought here or amxfiles.com or somewhere else, or joining a
local, regional or national club (you can print applications off my "links"
section) or just being the only lone AMCer at a cruise night in town.
A final though on the AMC Magazine that bit it. I honestly believe that
several bigger magazines from publishers like Peterson, Hemmings and others
saw a untapped market with this and decided to try to take a chance and put
a few more AMCs in their magazines, because of this folded magazine. So now
you have seen Hot Rod, Hot Rodding, Car craft, Hemmings Muscle, Cars &
Parts, Old Cars Weekly, Muscle Car Enthusiast increase a little AMC coverage
and even feature a AMC project car, or on the cover, or feature article, not
shoved back of the bus near penile enlargement ads, 3% mortgages and Joe
Weider kicking sand in bullie's face steroids. So maybe some good did come
from it, just hate to see AMCer bite that big a bullet.
