Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Motorola Alternators and Prestolite ignition modules

Dan if the external dimensions are the same on the 100 amp next to your
original I would say it is a bolt in. Not being familiar with later cars
with factory installed Delco's I do not know if they use an external
regulator so wiring it into your car may be different. I chose the easy
way out and got the one wire internal regulator Delco. Kenney American
makes a wiring kit to make the idiot light on the dash work with this
alt. I have Auto Meter gauges in the factory pod under the package tray
of which one is a volt meter so I didn't bother to get the kit to make
the idiot light work. With every electrical accessory on in the car the
Deco charges a steady 14.5 volts where as my other car that still has
the Motorola with everything on only barely charges 12 volts. I would
recommend this upgrade to any one who is using high draw aftermarket
accessories such as stereos, electronic ignition and cooling fans.

Doc,

I'm gonna chime in hear and ask what may sound like a real stupid
question. I checked my 77 amx w/258 and discovered that I have a
delco alt on the passenger side, under the a/c compressor. Is it a
simple swap to a 100 amp delco unit, or is there more to it?

Thanks,
Dan
