Bart, the problem with the scams is really simple. Anyone with computer can
sign up. And anyone with computer can also capture photos of any vehicle from
car show or auction or website. I keep seeing AMXs from vaultcars.com and duffys
website for instance. But the scammers only are phishing and anyone who bids the
scammers will quickly move in 'accpeting their offer' or 'sccond chance offer'
but Barnum said it best: there is fool born every minute, which is true. You
have lots of people who think they are getting a deal, or a jump on something
and paypal or electronic transfer funds to alleged seller only to get scammed,
so it is important that ebay shut these down as soon as they pop up.
Unfortunately it is not only cars, but computers, antiques, coins, stamps,
anything a scammer can scam a scam on will scam. Sounds like a rap song.
If you or anyone here spots a scam auction, let me know, as I increased my
bidding limit on ebay to $99 million dollars. Sure wished I had just $9 thousand
dollars or $99,000 dollars would pay off house and debt. At this point I am
headed to the 99 cent store tonight however.
