I had one of those tents for many years and did actually use it for
camping with my wife at a friends campsite. He had all the real tents an
camping equipment. I had an air mattress just the right size to fit it
with the seat down. We got stuck in a bad rain storm one night where the
rain was pelting the car and the wind was rocking it quite a bit to.
Never got a drop of water in the car. And yes Bart the sex was good. I
paid 50$ for the tent from the sales manager of the AMC dealer I bought
my car from, I had seen it on a car in the show room window as I drove
by and called about buying one. The sales manager a "Brother Walker"
said come see me and don't say anything to no one. I went there and he
led me across the street to his Matador coupe and took a cardboard Coke
box out of the trunk and handed it to me, it had the tent in it. He saw
the look on my face and said we all have to make a little on the side. I
figured it was the tent I had seen on the car in the show room a week or
so ago and he pinched it. The problem was the material was really cheap
and after 4-5 years it dried out and cracked. To bad I tossed it, I
probably could have had the upholstery shop whip me a new one up using
the old one as a template.

You only see these at National meets every now and then installed, makes for
quite a spectacle. I looked inside one in 1992 and there were two people
