Scott, something you might do is take a close up photo of this little 
metallic like emblem. I was trying to point out awhile back to people that 
AMC would shove on a decal or stripe kit on a Hornet or Gremlin, and 
sometimes emblem on the grill, and of course this little insert on glovebox 
to alter the car from base to X model. They did same on Matador and Concord 
and Pacer, but the little metallic X you have I have always thought is AMC 
at it's finest hour; that is, making small changes to upgrade a vehicle and 
sell it for more.
