I am sure you guys know the history of the kammback better than me but I
always figured they built a lot more 78 Gremlin bodies than they could sale. I
figured some genius at AMC decided rather than finish building them as
Gremlins they could make more money by making the rear side window larger
sticking square headlights on them and selling them as 79 Spirits. When that
didn't work and they still had 8 or 9 thousand of the Gremlin bodies left over
they put 4 wheel drive trains under them and sold the rest like that. I know
you guys will tell be the real story behind them. Even though I have a 78 I
will never know why they did that did 2 cent make over in 77. With the big
glass and the different tail lights. I think they should have brought out the
Spirit body style out in 77 if they wanted a change and kept the Gremlin
name. As for as it looking like a stretched out Gremlin I agree but I think
that is an optical illusion. I might be wrong but I think it is the same car.
Check out that 72 Gremlin on e-bay that the school dropped the Ford 351 in and
ran it off hydrogen gas back in 72. It looks just like the kammback.

Those are rather rare Paul, and seldom seen when new, and well, seldom seen now. I believe that Kammback lasted only a few years and like the SX/4, not a whole lot of them sold. I probably have the production figures here somewhere could dig up for you. Good luck, maybe make the guy a offer off e-bait to see if he will accect, that way he won't get popped with 'final value fee' by fee-bay.----- Original Message -----From: Paul HancockSent: Friday, January 27, 2006 7:43 PMSubject: Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Motor Mounts/Trans mounts website found....I hate to change the subject, but it,s easier to reply than compose, so please excuse. I've been watching a 79 Spirit Kamm back on ebay. I wasn't aware of the spirit even though I grew up in an AMC familly. It kind of looks like a stretched Gremmie. If anyone has seen this car could you give me some input, as I am thinking about bidding. I now have a 74 Gremlin but this car looks to good to pass up. what do ya think? Paul in Detroit.

I talked to this guy last year and it seemed like he did not want to sell anything. Well he tells me yesterday he sold 2 of his javs. He was pissed because the guy turned the one in a weeks time. I probably should have told him he should have sold it to me. LOLSCOTT

I just didn't know why the company does not list a set ( no motor or
trans) for the 71-74 V8 Jav/AMX...or a V8 Gremlin/Hornet?? They sell
individual pieces or as a set..(two motor mounts and a trans mount).
