That car reminds me of the Gremlin pictured. It had
$4500 of engine work alone, best of everything it seemed, even had neat stuff
like modified valve body, 3000 stall, and other 'speed' equpiment. I sold it on
ebay for $2000, and the guy sent me $500 deposit then never heard from him.
After waiting 100 days, I sent a registered letter (he had ignored my emails and
letters) and told him he needed to pay it off, or come up by Nov 1st with the
$900 in back payments, as we had agreed to $300 a month until paid off.
Regardless, he lost the car and sold it for $2000 a few days later, ironically
to a lady who lives several towns over from him in north Texas. Had numerous
offers for the engine alone, and several people only wanted the rustfree 1/4
panels, yet others wanted just the whole Jade Green body. Rare little car, J7
Jade Green, not a 1974 color, but a 75 color, but built at the end of production
in June/July 74, but production was then extended (by the Gov) thru Nov 74, so
AMC started pushing out 75 colors on 74 cars.
Regardless, vehicle 'should' have been worth more
whole but who knows. With your car John, I really can't tell what the hell
happened, but happens all the time, and some of you probably remember some of my
posts like the fellow who bought the three 68-69 rustfree AMXs in the NW, only
to part them out; or the three SC/Ramblers in WI a few months ago sent to
crusher, not really sure what to make of it sometimes.
