I have been thinking about this for a while. Putting an earlier bumper on the front of my 74 Hornet is impossible as the 73 and up have a peaked nose, the pre 73 has a straight nose. I saw the solution in a pic. Eddie posted of a 73 Hornet where the stock bumpers were tucked into the body maybe 2-3 inches which makes them not look so massive. I figured all it would take was to oblong the 3 bumper bracket mounting bolt holes in each side and slide the bumper back the appropriate 2-3 inches. Then trim the plastic filler between the bumper and body to fit. Why AMC did not use a filler on Gremlins and Matador coupe's is beyond me. The rear will be more difficult but not impossible. You will have to remove 2-3 inches from the end of the bumper bracket and weld the mounting flange back on and then trim the rubber filler to fit. I am sure you could do these same mods to a Gremlin and maybe even use a set of Hornet rubber fillers trimmed to match. The 74-77 Hornet's and Gremlins and 78 Concord's and Gremlin's used the same rear bumper. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo!
