[BaadAssGremlins] Re: Throw Away AMC's

Here is a nice Eagle Premier site off my links section:
http://home.earthlink.net/~drdorroh/

I won't go into throw away AMCs as a majority of the AMCs I have owned have
been throw away AMCs, not intended to last X amount of years. However, I
have always thought it is a testimonial on how well they were built that X
amount of them still survive in different conditions. I can go right now to
any of the Houston area pick a parts
www.houstonpickapart.com and in the 1500-2000+ cars each one has, it is
littered with hundreds of Toyotas, BMWs, Datsuns/Nissans, Geos, Saturns,
Hondas, SUVs, and a majority of the stuff is post-1990, less than 15 years
old! In fact, they got so MUCH of that shit that the PYP's started a
"1995-newer" section where you have to pay extra to go in, fenced off from
the pre-1994 cars!

I believe someone commented they would rather drive their brand x currently
than their AMC and I agree. However, what if you only own AMCs like me? My
driver(s) currently are my 72 Ambassador SST wagon, and 82 Eagle custom
wagon, while Paige drives her 88 Eagle daily. The Eagles get very good gas
milage, about 20mpg. The Ambo gets mileage eh, from Conoco to Texaco to
Citgo to Shell. Actuall it gets about 14mpg with the big 360V8.

Those Premiers were ahead of their time and the salvage yards here are
loaded with them as they reach their breaking point whatever that is, all
cars have those and it is the point where one decides whether to rebuild the
transmission at $1200 or is the car worth $1200 period.

As for AMCs, there are many cars not worth the metal they are printed on,
and some you can't give away like my 74 Hornet Sportabout wagon. Been trying
to sell it for over 2 years now, runs, drives, loaded and was a ex dealer
demonstrator, however, Hornets are not flying off the shelves in another bad
pun. This car did 'sell' on ebay, but buyer backed out when he found out it
would cost him more than he paid for the car to get it to VA:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4561296222&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAS:US:3
So it is still for sale. I have a whole list of people lined up however for
parts off it should I decide to part it out, go figure.
