[BaadAssGremlins] Re: Camshaft reccomendations for 401 in my Gremlin...Ro...

YUP...Davis you did warn me!! Guess i'm kinda like a kid..gotta
learn? Anyway..I'm a little bit warry of my custom comp cam..for an
auto trans...its a 108 centerline. Thats too close for Auto...dont
you think? Lift and duration are about right...but the 108 will be
more of a top ender. Was made for a four speed 390 car. Most all Auto
trans cams seem to be atleast 110 degree centerline...or there will
be too much overlap at lower rpm.Now...i'm going to ATTEMPT to get
Engle to NOT ship that @##@%$ wrong cam. Already emailed them the
same night that i had listened to the butt-head and ordered
it....Friday.NOW..WHY would they stock AMC cams...BUT no lifters????
We'll see how they are on straightening stuff out. I had "wanted" to
give them a try..because they supposedly just came out with new
designs...to work with the large AMC .904 lifter size. It was about
3 pm their time....thats when they close. Maybe it was a "HURRY UP..i
gotta go home" deal?? The fellow i talked with is Doug(maybe the Doug
thats the original owners son? Two sons still have the place..Jack
Engle is retired or whatever.I do beleive that Rons suggestion is a
real good one!!!! IF..ENGLE fixs this..i'll get the Comp. BUT..they
might go ahead and bill my card and ship it and say"gee didn't get
your message till after we shipped it"..HOPE NOT!!. Later...joe...---

> Don't say I didn't warn ya... I thought you said Ron gave you a
good suggestion? I still think you should use the cam you already
have. Save your money and if you aren't happy with it THEN spend the
money on a cam. It is an easy weekend swap and you will have a better
idea of what you NEED for your combination. I think you may find your
happy with it. Unless you just have money to burn?
> I run a 4000 stall on the street and my cam is 236 dur and 540
lift. Peak torque is like 3800 and peak HP is 6000 in my worn out
360. I have reved it to 7000 but power dropped off passed 6000. I
would have to get my dyno sheet to quote the exact #s but I believe
it was like 420ftpds tq and 296 HP at the rear wheels thru the 400
stall and 727 tranny, and ford 9" 456 minispooled rear with 28X 10x
15 slicks.
