Bart,
I'm fairly certain we're in no danger of
approaching 4000 posts on the subject.
And I'm also fairly certain that the theft
of AMCs is both AUTO *and* AMC
related.
If this were a report of a car already
stolen, there would be no challenge. But
because the guys weren't sucessful, the
owner is essentially being called a
fool and/or a liar, and as I know him
personally, have seen his cars in print
and in person many times, and even owned one of them before he did, I have
every reason to believe him...I know it's true, and I felt all area AMCers
deserved to know about it. If folks
choose to bury their heads in the sand,
that's their prerogative. But the report
is certainly on topic...and whether you
PERSONALLY 'don't care' about it
isn't reason to declare it off-topic.
As you DO know of my presence in the hobby,
at least the online part of it,
for the past 10 years, you might note that I
have never posted a virus warning,
'missing kidney at the airport' story or
other such joke or hoax 'sky is falling'
garbage. I don't spread rumors. This report
is solid. Maybe a third visit from
these guys would prove it. If so, I hope
it's never proven, as the owner has
done much for the image of AMC, at the track
and in the magazines, and
deserves to keep his cars safe at
home.
That's my last word in this forum on the
subject.
