Gary frame rail replacement is possible but a monster of a job. John Ellie did that on his girl friends 79 AMX. He drilled out all the spot welds and removed the whole unibody section as one piece from the fire wall forward and replaced it with a complete good one. I advised him long distance when he had a welding problem and when he was in need of some encouragement. If you are going to have to pay someone to do it in my opinion i'd find another car as the cost would not be worth it. If you are going to do it yourself be prepared for some serious work. Being a welder and fabricator as one of my many talents I would even think twice about tackling such a job. I am not trying to discourage you but just giving you real world facts. Doc, It's Gary 'The Mix'. The '73 Hornet is just about gone. The rust worms really eat this thing up. Even the front frame rails are gone. However, the cowl and main firewall is still in pretty good condition. Do you think I should cut the lower rust off and save it or am I just wasting my time? Even the front V8 crossmember is too rusted to save. LOL Got in over my head again!!!!!!! WHAT'S NEW ABOUT THAT. Gary

Subject: [BaadAssGremlins] Spring Ain't Here Yet!!!
I can't seem to make o progress with this weather. Cold damp and rainy yesterday so I stayed inside and finished the 2 billet knobs for the yellow cars window handles. Today I have errands to run and hope to get 2-3 hours work done on the inside of my orange car. Tomorrow they are calling for rain and snow and rain on and off the rest of the week. That May 1'st completion date for the interior being finished seems to becoming an impossibility if I can't get decent weather to work on the car. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo!
