[BaadAssGremlins] 70 Amboat info

Since a 70 Ambassador was brought up, here is something I recently sent 
someone concerning another 70 Ambassador two door. Take

Hi Sean, there is no breakdown that I am aware of of how many came with a 
390. Total production is as follows though:
DPL 2dr 2036
SST 2dr 8255
 A reasonable guess would be that of the 10,000+ made about 1000 or so. Why? 
Simpyl because most opted for the 360V8. The Ambassador was not even thought 
of as a muscle car. I'm sure with the 390 it would have been nice and have 
owned a 70 SST 390 station wagon I bought for $300. However, if people opted 
for a 390 in a luxury car, chances are they were going to use it for towing, 
not for racing, as it was a very heavy ride. Or, as AMC used to do, someone 
saw a Machine in the showroom and then once in the dealership, the salesmen 
would try to sell them from stock. That is covered in 'amc dealerships' on 
my website under 'parts' file about their marketing! So you do have a rather 
rare car, it is a lot rarer than any 70 AMX I would say, simply because many 
people who thru the 35 years since it was made, ifanyone found a Ambassador 
with a 390, it was gutted for the 390 only. Take care and have fun with your
