Heck Terry, it took me six years to finally sell
this 14,000 71 Matador two door! Six years I have run countless ads in many
publications. Rare body style only made 3 years and this is a first year with
only 7776 made. So my Matty had 1/2 of the miles and then change than that
little 70 Hornet.
A quick eye in the Shut Up & Drive will show
some cars have been on there for quite some time. Sometimes the seller thinks
they have gold. Other times they have too much money in their car and want to
try to recoup it back. Sometimes, and this is probably the toughest to deal
with, is sentimental reasons. Can't put a price tag on it.
Plain Janes are really neat cars from aMC too. I
always spend extra time looking over the six cylinder Javelins, Ambassadors, and
Rebels at meets. They might not be worth the metal they are printed on but it is
a testimonial of how well they were built that they are still around, much less
someone has not altered them with a big V8 or painted it big bad whatever!
Good luck to you should you snare that 35K Hornet, might even want to make them
a cash offer on it, and let them know you are a serious AMC fan. Sometimes this
makes a difference in negotiations in price, as they want their baby to go to a
good home.
