It can be done,the Caddy V8s i.e the 425-500's were lighter than a Toyota inline 6 plus a guy by the name Weird Harold Lankin dropped a Poncho 455 in a Pacer.

Hey Guys n Gals.
Im looking into buying a 73 472 Caddy motor for my Gremlin. It has 
the t400 tranny. It has low miles and is supposed to run great. Will 
I be less stoned if I put a wild motor like this in my car? HG
P.S. I have pics of a street sleeper if I can send em to someone to 
post. I cant figure out how to do it. Its a bone stock looking Pacer 
with a 500ci Caddy in it. Very wild.
