Depending on the condition of the wheels here are your options. It they
are clean and just need to be scuffed up for the primer to get a bite
use 400# sandpaper. If there are some rust issiues either sand blast
them or hand sand the rusted areas with 80# then 220# and then 400#. Use
Duplicolor rattle can Spot Filler & Primer. It will give you good build
up. A finish sanding with 400# to prep them before the final cote of
paint is applied and you are all set. Flat paint is hard to keep clean
and looking new. Eastwood Restorations (www.eastwood.com) has wheel
paints and kits. I just got a new catalog in the mail last night. If you
are going to use the Magnum 500 wheels they have a kit to paint them. It
works on 14 & 15 inch wheels, it comes with satin black paint. You can
buy their satin black paint seperately. I have use their charcoal gray
ralley wheel paint in the past with great success. I was trying to
decide on what color to use to detail the turbine wheels I have on the
orange Hornet. I was between useing the same orange that the car is
painted or the charcoal gray in between the spokes. I think I will go
for the gray as it is more subtle. I don't want this car to stick out
from the crowd like the yellow flamed one since it is just a clean
driver.

Thanks Doc,

These are brand new rims. The are white wagons for my slicks. I want to paint em black so they don't stick oout so much. Being new do I still have to prime them or can I just hit em with 400 and them paint? Are there any spray cans you would reccommend that I could get at walmart? Budget is tight here.

Thanks I will definitly need to get the 500 paint kit when I go to do them over.
