Whats the easist way to pull the V8 crossmember and front suspension out of my '73? That will be gone this week. I still have to look at the seatbelts for you Doc. Josh
Pulling the front crossmember really isn't that bad. I replaced one onmy 74 without removing the engine or the front springs. It would be especially easy if the engine has been removed.
Although the crossmember only one bolt and one nut (like a lug nut) securing it on each side, you will need to disconnect the strut rods from the lower control arms, remove the pivot bolts and disconnect the control arms. Once thew control arms are pulled out, remove the two bolts and two nuts from the crossmember and it is out.
If the engine is still in the car, disconnect the motor mounts, jack the engine up and the crossmember is ready to come out.
Good luck and keep your safety in mind..........use jack stands.
