Well it was sort of an 'X' it was a plain Jane 'X' Con-Ed meter readers company car. Very beat and very rusty unfortunately. Just an every day daily driver. They just sold 2 fair 74 Gremlins 6 months ago. He still has a 70 Javelin that he restored, the other 70 Javelin is a beat daily driver he saved from the crusher. The 68 Javelin he is looking to sell. A 62 Rambler 4 door sedan that is for sale. He just started on a retso on a 68 AMX. He also just sold a clean 75 Hornet 4 door sedan. The 70 Javelin is the first car to have the modern front end. But parts for the pre-70 Javelin Trunion front end are still available and now even improved, so don't let that scare you away from a good buy on a pre-70 Javelin. The thing you should stay away from is any pre-72 AMC with that Aluminum Warner automatic trans. They were usually on the 6 cyl & small V8's. The cast iron Warner was better but still not anywhere as good as the Torqueflites used from 72 and up. Besided Warner parts of any kind for these tran's are almost non existant and very pricy if you can find them. Thats why my son passed on a lot of good 71's because of the trans and bought the 72 he uses as a daily driver That is a mildly warmed over 360 with a 727 Torqueflite. Torqueflite parts ar easy to come by and being a modern trand people know how to work on them. Most trans shops have never even seen a Warner. I worked as a mechanic in an AMC dealer for 6 weeks and changed 7 aluminum Warners with the best one haveing 19,000 miles on it. I even predicted the one going bad in my fathers 69 Rebel by milage. I myself was not into the 71+ Javelins but after looking at the 74 my son has parked in my garage next to my Hornet for 7 years it kind of grew on me along with the 72 he bought 1 1/2 years ago.
