Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Yo

THIS REPLY IS FOR BOB, WHO ASKED ABOUT PUTTING AN EARLY ('70 to '73) BUMPER ON A '74 OR LATER GREM. AOL SHUT ME DOWN HALF WAY THRU MY LAST MESSAGE. HERE GOES AGAIN....  I HAVE A '74 GREMMIE WITH A '72 FRONT BUMPER ON IT. FIRST OF ALL, FORGET ABOUT CHANGING THE REAR BUMPER (TOO MANY MODS), JUST GET RID OF THE ANCHOR UP FRONT. THE '72 BUMPER I USED HAD TWO BOLT HOLE TABS ON THE TOP EDGE (ORIGINALLY HIDDEN UNDER THE EARLY STYLE GRILL) TAKE A DIE GRINDER AND CUT THEM OFF SO THAT THE TOP EDGE HAS THE SAME PROFILE AS THE LATER STYLE GRILL.  INSIDE THE LATER STYLE BUMPER IS A STEEL BAR WITH 8 STUDS PROTRUDING OUT THE BACK (4 0N EACH SIDE TO BOLT TO THE BUMPER SHOCKS). HAVE SOMEONE MODIFY THIS BAR SO THAT YOU CAN BOLT THE EARLY BUMPER TO IT. EVEN WITH THE 2 BOLT HOLES REMOVED FROM THE TOP OF THIS BUMPER, IT STILL HAS 4 HOLES TO USE TO MOUNT IT TO THE LATER STYLE BAR. TWO HOLE ARE ON THE FRONT OF THE EARLY BUMPER AND TWO ARE UNDERNEATH ON THE BOTTOM.  WHEN THIS IS BOLTED ON IT STICKS OUT ABOUT 2 INCHES MORE THAN IT DID ON THE EARLY GREMLINS, BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MODIFY THE HEADLIGHT DOORS AT ALL. I THINK IT LOOKS MUCHBETTER THAT THE FACTORY DESIGNED IT, AND IT IS STREET LEGAL. SOME STATES REALLY DO FROWN ON VEHICLES MISSING FRONT BUMPERS. EVEN THO BART WOULD SAY WHO NEEDS A BUMPER TO GO NINES!!!   JUST KIDDING DUDE!
