For those of you who like the Green Hornet, here is the theme song, old timers will remember it, others will go huh? http://members.aol.com/meow103476/greenhornet.html Here is a neat website with posted, and stun guns: http://www.tvacres.com/insects_bees_greenhornet.htm Here you can smell Kato's shoe: http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/ShowMainServlet/showid-587/ I always thought it was really neat to see super hearos and good guys team up. Still do. I remember Green Hornet and Batman crossed paths. Here is something about it: http://www.poobala.com/batmanandgreen.html As for the actual Green Hornet "car" in 1973..... My year was off here. It was 1972! Someone save this if you have archives here as one day someone will ask about it again. J. C. Rakes, Director of Marketing in Canada, announced in a November 71 pres release that a special, buint in Canada, for Canadians only, 72 Hornet was on it's way to the nation's 249 AMC dealer's showrooms. The 71 Sportabout had sold well in Canada, as had the SC/360 sports sedan. Pubilc Relations Canada Sales Director liked to call it "making new bread with old flour" something AMC was THE KINGS of doing. The ever inventive marketing boys at Brampton cooked up the idea. Cashing in on the familiarity of the popular 50's American radio cruime serial and the short lived TV series (starring Van Williams and Bruce Lee) headlines announced: "THE GREEN HORNET RETURNS---AS A CAR" 300 of these specially trimmed Hornets were produced in Brampton, whihc was small enough then as to not lose them in larger production factories. Each sported distince Green Hornet paint, a green vinyl roof, and specially created Green Hornet decals. The car came equipped with white wall tires and wheel covers. You could order your Green Hornet with the 232, 258, 304 or 360V8. The Green hornet package was offered to Canadians for $2997.00. The Green Hornet could also be jazzed up with optional "X" package which included slot style wheels, C78X14 tires, a sport steering wheel and rally stripes and X emblems. A special sliding sunroof was also option, but only in the special green color. Other extra cost items were vented rotor front disc brakes, and tilt column. You could also swap the automatic trans for manual three on the tree or four speed on the floor. The big news waas not the Green Hornet for 1972, but AMC's Buyer Protection Plan, unheard of in the auto industry at that time. This is off my website's "literature list" 1972 Full line color catalog: AMC introduced in 72 what many automakers did 10-20 years later, even now: the Buyer Protection Plan. It covered all their vehicles with 12 month/12000 mile warrant, SOMETHING UNHEARD OF IN 1972. This is a wonderful catalog full of 'uncluttered' photos, where the photos are of the cars, not with scenes in the background! The Gremlin shows off it's roof spoiler and length of roof sunroof! This is THE ONLY YEAR OF THE HORNET RALLYE X shown in Canary Yellow! AMC brought in well known designers like GUCCI to update some of the interiors on their vehicles with success; the Gucci Hornet shows off it's stunning beige, red/green striped interior in a FULL PAGE. A 'calm before the storm' Trans Am Red 72 Javelin lurks on yet another page; open the next and there is 'the storm' a Jolly Green 72 AMX 401; the interior is show on the opposite page with 4 speed with ultra rare console (I will buy all these you have) Rally Pack, and dash with 8 track. The Matador two door in silver with green vinyl top with 401 is shown, that is a very interesting photo. Top of the line Ambassadors are also featured in color, one 401 two door in Hunter green, another SST in Sparkling Burgundy. yet another two door Brougham in Cordoba Brown with 401V8; and a large photo of a 72 Ambassador SST station wagon that looks identical to my own 72 SST wagon is shown, other wagons and four doors are also featured, large specifications chart, options, performance bank, engines, trans, axles, tires and a color availability chart round this out. Bet you did not know the Gucci Hornets would only come in one of four colors! A wonderful addition for your collection, for reference, or to display with your classic AMC at car shows Add $3.00 ship. $14.00 (shameless plug, heehee; anyone on Bart's forum here who wants one, $9/NOS) Either way, hope someone on here picks up a rare piece of AMC memoribilia for their personal collection.
