If you've got the cash and don't have a bad case of Rambler mentality, I 
strongly suggest the MSD Pro Billet Ready to Run distributor.
It doesn't need the ignition box, it works by itself and works very well. 
The white Javelin has had one for about three years and it works great.
I would not suggest buying anything from Mallory, they tend to forget about 
their products and then don't support them with parts.
While you're at it get a set of MSD wires too.

Electric fans are great and do wonders for the engine temperatures. Remember 
you will need an upgraded alternator to operate the electric fan
as the do need quite a bit of juice to operate.

I am considering upgrading to an electric fan, and a new electronic 
distributor on my 71 Javelin. I'm running the original 304 but its been 
bored 30 over, new cam, headers, 360 manifold, and a 600 edelbrock carb. I 
still have the stock distributor with points, and a motor driven flex fan. 
Any of you guys do these upgrades yet and what products did you use? Thanks,
