That's why I use plain old household contact cement. In grocery stores in small tubes (close to travel toothpaste size). If the directions say put glue on both surfaces, let dry xx minutes, then put the pieces together it's contact cement. Dries clear, stays on forever (well, mine is 8 years and counting).

Also, I'd suggest using BLACK adhesive.  When doing the Javelin, I used a
"regular" yellowish-colored 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (also called "monkey
snot/gorilla snot", I believe), and had to do careful cleanup to remove any
excess, as it really stood out.  I wised up and used the black flavor on my
wife's Firebird; much nicer deal.
