TIP: If you plan on using a used water pump, soak it in a bucket of water over night (at least 8 hours). The seals dry out, and get burned when you put it back in operation. New or rebuilt pumps seals will have a bit of lubricant on them from reassembly. Only those that have sat on a shelf for 10-20 years (NOS) or have been used and sat up a long time (dried out) need to be good wet before installing and putting into service again. You might be okay to put it on then fill with coolant and let sit 8+ hours before starting, but I've had good luck sticking a used pump in a bucket overnight or longer.

But the water pump started leaking.   I don't think this car wants to go back on the road this weekend.  I'll search for a 195.6 water pump locally or put another used pump on it just to get it back on the road.  The engine had very low miles since a rebuild but it sat for over 20 years and the cylinders got rusty, so I rebuilt it.  The water pump was on the engine and the seals must have been damaged from sitting.
