Well I'm glad it's resolved. Those sort of things seem to happen more now. Like that exhaust manifold I had, it was simply 1/4" too long, and that was that. Had to notch the end bolt flanges. I wonder how much cast iron is on spacecraft? Any at all? I spoze you could have just driven it until the extra metal WORE off! AMC made the block JUST a llittle bit fat and the water pump impeller was JUST a little bit fat. So there was JUST a little interference between the ends of the blades and the block casting right on one of the bosses for the hold down bolts. I checked the diameter of my pump and it was .035 inches greater than the diameter of the pump I removed. These ain't spacecraft. AMC wasn't NASA and neither was some unknown aftermarket water pump maker. 2 minutes with my Dremel tool cured the problem. I considered getting another water pump because there is just a little runout on my current pump shaft, but Kragen's wanted $54 for a rebuilt pump. My Rambler mentality took over and I let Mr. Dremel cure the problem. > > Joe Fulton > -------------- next part -------------- > An HTML attachment was scrubbed... > URL: <http://list.amc-list.com/pipermail/amc-list-amc-list.com/attachments/20100706/7fd5fe40/attachment.htm> > _______________________________________________ > AMC-list mailing list > AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx > http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com > _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
