Well I checked the source of the noise tonight and it turned out to be one of those additive errors. AMC made the block JUST a llittle bit fat and the water pump impeller was JUST a little bit fat. So there was JUST a little interference between the ends of the blades and the block casting right on one of the bosses for the hold down bolts. I checked the diameter of my pump and it was .035 inches greater than the diameter of the pump I removed. These ain't spacecraft. AMC wasn't NASA and neither was some unknown aftermarket water pump maker. 2 minutes with my Dremel tool cured the problem. I considered getting another water pump because there is just a little runout on my current pump shaft, but Kragen's wanted $54 for a rebuilt pump. My Rambler mentality took over and I let Mr. Dremel cure the problem. Joe Fulton -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
