Freon is Freon (also called R-12) which is difficult to find and 
expensive. In the early 90's, it was replaced with R-134a but you can't 
mix the two (the oil is not compatible). It should be pretty easy to 
find out what you need to do to switch from R-12 to R-134a. What you 
need to do isn't really specific to any particular manufacturer.
