The close ratio T-10 (2.23 1st) with a 3.9:1 diff got you only 8.7:1 overall. 
The SR4s and T4s I've known usually have around 3.5 to 4:1 1st. Even 10:1
overall with these would mean a 2.5 to 2.86 differential in direct (not over)
drive. 

AFAIK 'granny' gear 1sts were about 6:1.
