The orange wire is the line to the "ALT" light on your dash. Assuming you're 
using the Motorola alternator there should be a tab on the alternator that 
the orange wire connects to. The tab is usually located underneath the 
isolation diode (the heatsink the large wire connects to) on the regulator 
terminal on the 35 amp alt. and a lone regulator terminal on the 55 amp alt.
