That may have been a 290/2V car that got a 390 swapped in, might be a typo and he really has a 290, or the 390 and trans were swapped in. It's obvious that something was swapped -- but what? A VIN would help, but it might have been a six cylinder car and could possibly have a 390 with a 72+ bell and original T-14. There's no way to know for sure WHAT was done without looking. Most people don't know what they have! It might even be a four speed with a three speed knob on it, or a knob who doesn't know where fourth gear is trying the shifter...

I think it would be a T-15 behind a V8. The T-14 was used behind sixes.
